Photographic archive of Francisco 'Pacho' Santos' interview at eRadio Bogotá on July 24, 2015, during his mayoral campaign, discussing security, theft and challenges facing the city.

On Friday, July 24, 2015, in the middle of his campaign for Mayor of Bogotá, Francisco “Pacho” Santos visited eRadio’s studios to talk about some of the issues shaping the city’s public debate. Insecurity, theft and various urban problems were central to an interview that included Nelson Vahos, Dr. Alejandro Jiménez and Giovanni Almonacid.

Today, the photographs taken during that session make it possible to document that visit, even though no audio or video record of it survives.

Bogotá in the 2015 Election Debate

Francisco Santos was running in 2015 as a candidate for Mayor of Bogotá. Before that candidacy, he had served as Vice President of Colombia between 2002 and 2010. Public safety and theft were part of the city’s public debate during that election process, and were among the issues discussed during the campaign.

A Conversation About the City

During the meeting at eRadio, the conversation addressed the perception of insecurity and the theft-related concerns that were part of Bogotá’s public debate at the time, along with other urban issues and citizens’ concerns about safety. The interview also captured the then-candidate’s views on these issues and his proposals for the city.

At the table, alongside Francisco Santos, were Nelson Vahos, Dr. Alejandro Jiménez and Giovanni Almonacid.

An Archive That Survived in Photographs

Although the audiovisual record of that conversation is not part of the archive currently available, a series of photographs taken during the session makes it possible to document Francisco Santos’ visit to eRadio: his participation in front of the microphones, the work inside the studio, the production team and the moments following the interview.

This interview joins other pieces from the eRadio Colombia era documented in this archive, such as the conversations with Alberto Cepeda Zubieta and María Victoria García and with Herbin Hoyos, also recorded in 2015. María Victoria García, in particular, had taken part in that earlier interview to present aspects of Francisco Santos’ own political platform.

This photographic series is part of eRadio’s Historical Archive and documents a period in which the outlet opened its microphones to figures from Colombian public life to discuss the issues shaping the agenda of Bogotá and the country.
