MIGRANT VOICES IN CANADA · MIGRATION TESTIMONY
Zuliva Interian Suarez: A Cuban Migrant's Experience in Canada | Migrant Voices, 2024
A conversation about migration, adaptation and the experience of starting a new life in Canada.
On July 8, 2024, Nelson Vahos spoke with Zuliva Interian Suarez about her experience as a Cuban migrant in Canada. Joined by Carlos D. Castillo, the interview addresses, from a personal perspective, arrival in the country, adaptation, hardships and the way a migrant builds a new stage of life far from home.
This conversation is part of Migrant Voices in Canada, a journalistic series dedicated to preserving first-person testimonies from people who have lived through the Canadian migration process. Rather than explaining immigration policy, the project documents the human experiences behind each migration journey.
About This Series
Migrant Voices in Canada is presented as testimonial journalism and oral memory, not as migration advice or a “success story” narrative. Each installment preserves the voice of a different person and their own particular experience of the migration process.
